Writing as a Technology/Show and Tell

Part II
This is my project the message is "It is not the pen mightier then the sword but only the words alone the pen is really not needed" What I found out is that the pen may not be needed but it is MUCH easier. I first tried stones and found that I did not have nearly enough. The yarn was my second choice. Which still took much longer then expected and I found my message change so that it would take less words and easier letters to produce. Still there are several words that are not easily read by those who do not know what it says. There are simply some letters that do not come out well in cursive writing with yarn. Like the articles mentioned technology is about ease of use and time, and clearly yarn is not a quick and easy form of writing.

Part I

Miguel and Barron took the issue of technologies in different ways, but what they both came down to was how the writing or reading world has had to adjust for new technologies. In Barron's essay he uses the telephone as an example and how Morse assumed the phone would fail because it did not keep a record of the conversation. Today phones are considered a necessity and few people go anywhere with out one. Phones are a convince. Convenience is a large part of Miguel's essay with largely tracts the changes in books. He sights that the ability to hold a book in one hand is largely why changes had been made for it. Today as electronic books are becoming more and more popular the Convenience may not be so much to fit in the hand but save time going to a store or library, and since so much time is spent already online reading a book from the screen does become Convenience.

While Plato seemed to be more fearful over the new technologies Miguel and Barron are much more willing to say that it is a natural part of life. That technology has consistently been changing the world of writing and it will continue to do so. There is another major difference between the writings of Plato and Org and the essays of Miguel and Barron, Org and Plato discuss the spoken word versus the written word. In both Miguel and Barron it is not the creation of writing at issue but rather improving the writing systems. A new system of communication could therefore be much more frightening then simply improving on what one already has.

I think your yarn writing looks pretty cool, actually. It has quite the loopy pattern!
